Product Stewardship and the Circular Economy

Course Description:
It is widely accepted among product stewardship professionals that the shift towards a circular economy, and away from a linear economy, is necessary to protect human health and the environment. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation has articulated three main circular economy concepts: designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems. One of the greatest challenges with circularity is moving from these theoretical concepts to concrete implementation. This talk will explore examples of practical steps that product stewards in various sectors have taken to embed circularity into product development and management of change. The speakers hope to generate discussion about meaningful steps we can take to move toward circularity. This talk will offer perspective complementary to 'The Pursuit of Product Stewardship Excellence'.
