Product Stewardship During Mergers and Acquisitions

Course Description:
Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) is the process of combining two companies into one. These business transactions are driven by an entity's desire to increase capacity, strengthen its product portfolio, expand geographic distribution, increase market share, penetrate new markets, or increase intellectual property. Ultimately, the end-goal of any M&A is synergy and value creation. However, a failure to adequately identify product stewardship challenges and opportunities in the due diligence phase of M&A activity may delay realization of those objectives. While each M&A deal is unique and the depth of due diligence needed will vary depending on the company and the dynamics of the deal, the fundamentals of the product stewardship due diligence process are the same. This session will introduce a high level framework for product stewardship due diligence and some best practices.
