Preparing for the European Commission's Chemical Strategy for Sustainability (PSX 2021 On Demand)

Course Description:
In October 2020, the European Commission outlined their EU Chemical Strategy for Sustainability (CSS), which sets out their intended contributions to the non-toxic environment aspiration announced in the European Green Deal. The CSS essentially lays out expectations for the European Commission's future legislative landscape regarding chemicals and may potentially impact all organizations that sell chemical products within the EU market. This education session will unpack key elements of the CSS to identify their potential impact on the chemical products market. We will closely examine three specific actions that are likely to have the greatest short-term impact: the extension of the generic risk approach, the introduction of a mixture assessment factor for chemical safety assessments, and the addition of new hazards to the CLP Regulation. Finally, we will discuss what organizations can do to manage the potential impact and the possible timeline for any legislative change.
