Course Description:
Due to the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public currently has an intense interest in hand sanitizer and surface disinfectant products. These product types fall into a particularly challenging stewardship category to which more than one regulatory program can apply. Entering markets with regulated products is fraught with challenges and evaluating regulatory requirements is a key part of many product stewards' jobs. Company culture, policies, procedures, and stakeholder roles all impact product development. This session will use role-playing exercises to help participants frame the complexities of putting EPA- and FDA-regulated antimicrobial products on the market. Participants will also learn how to effectively communicate with stakeholders in response to an emerging market opportunity connected to public health. The session will provide examples of product stewards addressing the concerns of internal stakeholders, regulators, downstream customers, and ultimate consumers.
