Course Description:
Due partly to the EPA's establishment of drinking water health advisories for certain concentrations of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in 2016, public perception and regulatory activity of fluorinated chemicals present in consumer products are evolving. These changes create compliance and product stewardship challenges, as fluorinated chemicals are widely used across many industries and in many manufacturing processes. Consumer products may also unintentionally - or without proper identification - contain fluorinated chemicals. This session will help participants understand current compliance and product stewardship challenges relating to fluorinated chemicals. The speakers will cover fluorinated chemical terminology, considerations for product testing, and tips to avoid pitfalls associated with consumer product testing.
