Compliance and China's MEE Order No. 12 (PSX 2021 On Demand)

Course Description:
China's first national-level regulation on new chemical management, the Provisions on Environmental Administration of New Chemical Substances (also known as MEE Order No. 17) was published in 2003. In 2010, the Provisions were revised for the first time, resulting in MEE Order No. 7. After nine years of use, MEE Order no 7 was revised once more in 2020 to create the Provisions on the Environmental Administration of New Chemical Substances, called MEE Order No. 12, which took effect on January 1st, 2021. MEE Order No. 7 was repealed simultaneously. On November 17th, 2020, China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment officially announced its new Guidelines for the Environmental Management and Registration of New Chemical Substances. Referred to as the Guidelines, these supporting documents refine certain regulations and clarify specific implementation requirements of MEE Order No. 12.

This presentation will provide general background on MEE Order No.12, introduce and analyze the main points of the Guidelines, and assist participants who lack experience in registering chemicals under MEE Order No.12. Other information that will be covered includes, but is not limited to, relevant data requirements, the protection of confidential business information, and post-registration obligations.
