South Korea's Updated GHS Standard and Implications for Companies (PSX 2021 On Demand)

Course Description:
South Korea's implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) was previously regulated by the standard MoEL Public Notice No. 2016-19. Since Jan. 2021, the regulation has been updated to MoEL Public Notice No. 2020-130. The changes to the standard apply mainly to Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) submissions and the Confidential Business Information (CBI) application process for South Korean-based manufacturers and importers of hazardous chemicals. Affected companies are now required to submit Material Safety Data Sheets to South Korea's Ministry of Employment and Labor (MoEL) before manufacturing or importing these chemicals. Companies that have already submitted MSDS under the previous standard are required to update their documents with the features required under the new regulation within a grace period. This presentation will discuss the changes to the Korean GHS standard, the new requirements for MSDS submissions, relevant required information, the grace period, and applying for CBI protection.
