Course Description:
Regulatory compliance is only the first step toward developing sound and proactive chemical management and product stewardship programs. A product steward's greatest accomplishment is to move beyond compliance by supporting his or her organization's transition from reactive to proactive programs. By using existing and emerging technologies to simplify and automate workflow, environmental health and safety departments can make better-informed decisions, reduce risk, and optimize product decisions to promote sustainability and profitability in the future. During this presentation, the speakers will describe steps that the EHS team at GE Appliances has taken to enhance its chemical management program, including its materials approval workflow and chemical monitoring. This presentation will also provide an overview of the newer tools and technologies that are becoming available to product stewards, including predictive analytics that use machine learning and AI to anticipate future risks.
