To identify your obligations under China's chemical management regulations when importing chemicals or articles, you must understand your role regarding chemicals' risks as defined by Chinese authorities. It is also necessary to explore the scope of the new chemical substance registration, which was updated in 2021 and regulates chemicals newly introduced in China or with significant new uses. If your imports have been identified as hazardous chemicals or dangerous goods, screening for compliance with local transportation standards and the Globally Harmonized System of Classifying and Labeling Chemicals is crucial to ensuring supply chain continuity. In the real world, lacking emergency response numbers on safety data sheets, missing QR codes that identify hazardous chemicals, or neglecting local transportation policies will raise red flags in the eyes of your shipper or China Customs.
