Project Drawdown and Industry Initiatives

Course Description:
Whenever people ask why businesses need to commit to more sustainable practices, the answer frequently relates to how sustainability is becoming an imperative for sales. This is an important message, but the other, arguably more important answer is that these sustainable practices are helping avoid the catastrophes that have been projected in association with global temperatures rising by about 2 degrees Celsius. To demonstrate this, the non-profit organization Project Drawdown has modeled sustainability initiatives to mathematically show the amount that greenhouse gas emissions may be reduced and the resulting impact on global temperature. This information is a valuable tool for explaining why industry must continue making strides toward more sustainable products and services and why customers and governments are demanding they do so. This session will review Project Drawdown's framework and how business strategies may be aligned with it or how businesses can work to become aligned with it. The session will also share resources that link to Project Drawdown data and the Drawdown-Aligned Business Framework.
