Course Description:
OSHA has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to update the agency's hazard communication standard to align with Revision 7 of the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, also known as the GHS Purple Book. Other countries are also updating their legislation to adopt or implement a new revision of the GHS Purple Book. The NPRM, once promulgated, will require manufacturers and importers of hazardous chemicals to update certain sections of safety data sheets, potentially including formulation information, physical and chemical properties, and more expansive toxicological information. These changes will apply to all hazardous chemicals produced or imported. Manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors are responsible for passing this information along the product supply chain. In this session, the presenters will outline ways to manage the 'big picture' of GHS updates globally and review approaches to completing the most cost-effective GHS implementation revisions while minding compliance.
