Product Design Assessment to Catalyze Systematic Product Improvement

Course Description:
In this session, the presenters will share the journey toward implementing the Roche Group's in-house Product Stewardship Performance (PSP) assessment tool. The tool is one of four key elements of Roche's strategic framework for product transformation and was first introduced at PSX 2020 (refer to the session 'In Pursuit of Product Stewardship Excellence' in the Stewardship On Demand library). The PSP tool enables functional teams to assess product performance in eight lifecycle stages according to Roche-defined safety, security, health, and environmental (SHE) criteria. A baseline PSP score for the Roche Group was established by purposively sampling and assessing 30 products representing Roche's portfolio of pharmaceutical and diagnostic products. The baseline constitutes a key milestone in Roche's journey to improve product stewardship performance by 25 percent by the end of 2025 and 50 percent by the end of 2029. Participants in this session will take away insights and lessons from conducting product performance assessments, best practices for implementing assessment processes, and ideas for the future evolution of the PSP Tool and assessment methodology.
